I’m taking over Tackle it Tuesday! April 15, 2008

Filed under: Tackle it Tuesday — Carolyn @ 10:57 am

From now on I will be posting my tackles over at 5MinutesForMom.  Janice was getting so overloaded with all that’s on her plate that when I asked her if she needed anything and she replied really not wanting to do Tackle it Tuesday anymore I was completely excited to step in!  Praise God that I will have this constant accountability and she will have less responsibility :o).

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

I even made new Tackle it Tuesday buttons and shared a tip on how to syphon water with a hose this week.

Of coarse you will still find me here on Tuesdays giving you hints on what I tackled for the week, but you will have to hop over there to see all the dirty details (literally)…. and this week’s a doozey!

Here’s your hint…

Not so Wordless Wednesday! April 2, 2008

ANOTHER close call with my son!

He was choking today!!!  Not breathing, mouth open, trying to cough, lips started to turn blue, panic on his little face like “Mommy fix it!”… the whole bit!!!!  I automatically put him over my knee to do the Baby Heimlich Maneuver…

He is fine, the bit of turkey meat came right out, he started crying so I knew he was fine, poor little guy!  We kinda knew this would happen someday with the way he has always eaten.

Please if you do not know read up on the Heimlich Maneuver, it can save someone’s life!!!

When I was young probably about 5 or 6 I used to walk to school with my mom her friend and her friend’s kids, we used to stop at the corner market and get candy.  I used to love buying Jaw Breakers (Can you see where this story is going?), which I no longer care for… well I choked on one and since no one really knew what to do my mom’s friend took me by the ankles and swung me upside down until it came out!!!!  Talk about crazy!!!  This memory often seems like a dream because it was so strange, but it really did happen.  Praise God for this woman’s quick decision even without knowledge she saved my life!

Tackle it Tuesday… A Blessing! April 1, 2008

Filed under: Family Happenings, Tackle it Tuesday — Carolyn @ 7:49 am

My Sister in law recently sent me this in an email (below) and took my kids for like 4 hours yesterday!

“I was wondering if you had a day each week that you could use a couple hours without the older kids?  My friend and I had a “Kid Swap” each Tuesday/Thursday before I moved back here.  It was Awsome!  I have Mondays available and was wondering if I could come pick up JJ and B.Boy for few hours.  You would still have the new baby, but it would give you a bit to sleep, clean, laundry, shop, scrapbook, whatever you want to do with those hours… they would be yours (And, Baby’s).  You don’t have to take my kids.  We’ll just get you some extra time and I will get to know my Niece and Nephew! : )  (Which I’m dying to anyway)

Of coarse this is when I get all the phone calls and knocks at the door to destract me from whatever tasks I chose to do, but I still got so soo much done!

  1.  I finally put three piles of laundry away; both folded in drawers and hung in closets.
  2. I cut down the pile of dirty dishes in the sink.
  3. I vacuumed!
  4. I picked up the table tops in my front room.
  5. I cleaned parts of my bathroom (the sink, toilet, and countertop).
  6. I sorted and cleaned more laundry.
  7. I studied the Word a bit.
  8. I even got to visit with my new nephew!  Look how cute!  I was there when he was born!!!

And found a new blog with a very interesting line of comments, it is Digging for Pearls

… she has a post asking Christian women to share what their top 10 struggles are.  If you go to her site (linked above) you can share too, and be entered in a book giveaway.  Oh and I would love if you would copy and paste your comment from her blog to mine on this post so I can get to know you (my readers) better.

Here is my top 10…

  1. the lies of the enemy
  2. feeling like I am a bad mother and wife
  3. …because I cannot get everything done at home
  4. jealousies over my husband’s hobbies
  5. anger
  6. laziness
  7. time management / schedule planning
  8. patience
  9. my appearance in a mirror and the fact that clothes just aren’t built for me.
  10. getting out with the kids

I’m Starting a new MeMe… March 11, 2008

Filed under: My Walk Monday — Carolyn @ 10:38 pm

…My Walk Monday…

I am starting this in hope to have a home for accountability and encouragement in my walk with Christ Jesus.

Each week I would like you to share a post on a bit of your walk with the Savior.  It could be anything like what you learned that morning in devotions, what you are struggling with, a new worship song you learned, a prayer request,  a new Bible study you started, a praise report, you get the idea… anything that is a cause for growth in your relationship with the Lord.

I will also have bonus questions posted from week to week with hope that you will answer and we will all get to know each other better.  After you write your post and answer the bonus question sign-in to the Mr. Linky for the week you are participating.

I shared my first post below and made a button (below) so you can post it on your blog to encourage others to join.  Just click the button below to find the page with the code to copy and paste the into your sidebar.

Ah yes, and if you are a non-blogging Christian that would like to participate you could leave your info in the comments on each week’s post :o)

Just Thoughts March 2, 2008

Filed under: Family Happenings — Carolyn @ 10:01 pm

Here I am a mommy of three, the smallest asleep, the older two still trying to go to bed because they keep getting up to play with each other, and me… here I am falling apart… crying over everything from the crying baby, to the full trash can, to an untamed backyard, to the mound of dishes and laundry everywhere!  I don’t seem to function well these days, oye!  I’m hungry, I’m tired, my stomach hurts, I’m angry, impatient, I feel fat and lazy.  I feel like a failure.  I don’t know what I can handle anymore I feel like I am going to SNAP!  My kids went to bed tonight without brushing their teeth, without changing their clothes, without a bath, no story was read, no prayer was said (now I’m crying again) I just don’t like how things are going.  I seem to shower but twice a week, I hate myself.  I wanna be someone that has it all together, someone that has good personal hygiene, someone that is not a disappointment to everyone that people just want to give up on. I’m not good at keeping friends because I do not call and talk to them… I have felt so much love from all you Christian Mommy’s out there, so this is me calling, I love you and thank you for your prayers when my daughter was born, you are appreciated and God has put me in touch with all of you for a reason.  My prayer now would be that the Women’s Retreat I am going on this weekend would be a blessed one, that maybe I would finally get my act together.

Friday for Friends February 29, 2008

Filed under: Friday for Friends — Carolyn @ 12:15 pm

I was tagged (6 weeks ago) by my friend Krista at Scraps in Bloom :o)  So now my job is to share 7 Random things about me…  I like doing this in photo form…

Play along ladies…  HallieLil DuckKarenHousewifeMonkey GigglesJennySusie

Here’s how it works:

  • Link the person that tagged you, leave a comment on their blog, so their readers can visit you.
  • Post the rules on your blog.
  • Share 7 strange/weird facts about yourself.
  • Let each person know by leaving a comment on their blog.

Update:  Just some thoughts on the photos ;o)  I love my daughter’s fuzzy hair after a bath (doesn’t she look like my twin in the second picture on the left?).  Picture 5 is a layout of me at a Christian high school summer camp (I wish I was that thin again)…  I made that layout probably 6 years ago.  The picture at the bottom is not very flattering :o)

Also reminiscing on life this time last year… I won my first page layout contest, I was working through the loss of a baby, I was taking the Library of Memories class from Big Picture Scrapbooking, I purchased my MacBook Pro, and I joined Tackle it Tuesday for the first time :o)

And now one year later God has blessed me with a newborn daughter (AWESOME)!!!  But He also blessed me with a new flatscreen computer monitor for my husband (you see I screwed up on the budget around Christmastime when our car needed repairs done and I couldn’t spoil my hubby like I usually do for Christmas, but God prompted some friends of ours gave us $300 cash!!! I still haven’t told my husband who it came from because I pray that their reward will be in heaven and not here on earth (Matthew 6:19-21).  God has been so good to us, and you through this blog are part of that blessing, thank you all!
