Hey ladies!!!  I am so excited, the party is finally here!  Welcome!  (PS>>> THE GIVEAWAY ON THIS POST WILL NOT END UNTIL MARCH FRIDAY 28th :o)

Let me introduce myself… my name is Carolyn, I am a born again christian, and a mother of 3. My youngest was born just 7 weeks ago, my oldest is 3, and my middle is going to be 2 in April.  I am 25 years old and have been happily married for 7 years.  I love scrapbooking and encouraging others in doing so… hence the Scrapping Servant :o)

Here is a great photo of my 3 little ones…

I also have a recipe to share from a party I went to at my church on Valentine’s Day… I even took a picture for you… doesn’t it look YUMMY?!

 Mini Cheesecakes

  • 1 (12 oz) package vanilla wafers (Nilla or generic brand)
  • 2 (8oz) package cream cheese (Philadelphia Cream Cheese or generic brand)
  • 3/4 white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (make sure it is in heavy syrup not the one in water)
  • 1 - 2 Reynolds FOIL Baking Cups (32 per package)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Put one vanilla wafer per one foil baking cup (or crush vanilla wafers and place them into each cup as much as you like)
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, eggs and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
  4. Fill each baking cup to 1/3 - 2/3 (it’s really your call on how much)
  5. Bake for 15 - 20 minutes or even less depending on your oven’s temperament
  6. Cool and top with cherry pie filling (again, as much or less as you like it).
  7. Chill and serve (it really tastes way better chilled)

Oh and be sure to leave a comment on this post to enter in a little giveaway I will be having for the party… sorry it took me so long to post what it is… it’s an altered paint can perfect in place of any regular gift bag, or as an Easter “basket”, a great place for keepsakes, it even comes with a key!

I was tagged (6 weeks ago) by my friend Krista at Scraps in Bloom :o)  So now my job is to share 7 Random things about me…  I like doing this in photo form…

Play along ladies…  HallieLil DuckKarenHousewifeMonkey GigglesJennySusie

Here’s how it works:

  • Link the person that tagged you, leave a comment on their blog, so their readers can visit you.
  • Post the rules on your blog.
  • Share 7 strange/weird facts about yourself.
  • Let each person know by leaving a comment on their blog.

Update:  Just some thoughts on the photos ;o)  I love my daughter’s fuzzy hair after a bath (doesn’t she look like my twin in the second picture on the left?).  Picture 5 is a layout of me at a Christian high school summer camp (I wish I was that thin again)…  I made that layout probably 6 years ago.  The picture at the bottom is not very flattering :o)

Today I would like to announce a little giveaway I am having to celebrate my 1 year Blogoversary.  If you look at yesterday’s post I mentioned the top 13 commenters for last year… well I would like to give a little something to the top 3…  Each can choose product from my Inventory List… (it’s not much - I hope you are blessed)

  1. $15 for Rebecca
  2. $10 for Karla
  3. $5 for Terri

I would also like to pick someone at Random for another $5… Sara at There She Grows (she commented 6 times last year :o)

Just some stats on my first year… I had 275 comments total from 174 different people. And something cool I found on Rae’s blog… a blogoversary counter…

Get your own free Blogoversary button!

Also reminiscing on life this time last year… I won my first page layout contest, I was working through the loss of a baby, I was taking the Library of Memories class from Big Picture Scrapbooking, I purchased my MacBook Pro, and I joined Tackle it Tuesday for the first time :o)

And now one year later God has blessed me with a newborn daughter (AWESOME)!!!  But He also blessed me with a new flatscreen computer monitor for my husband (you see I screwed up on the budget around Christmastime when our car needed repairs done and I couldn’t spoil my hubby like I usually do for Christmas, but God prompted some friends of ours gave us $300 cash!!! I still haven’t told my husband who it came from because I pray that their reward will be in heaven and not here on earth (Matthew 6:19-21).  God has been so good to us, and you through this blog are part of that blessing, thank you all!

Okay ladies. I know you haven’t heard from me in a while… I am still here and very glad some of you still come to visit me, THANK YOU! :o)

I was planning another giveaway for my Friday for Friends carnival and thought “Why not encourage others to do the same thing to show that they are thankful too?” Your giveaway doesn’t have to be anything big, just something from your heart… you will see what I am giving further down in this post.

For my GIVEAWAY this time I will chose 2 winners. Each winner will be able to chose $10 in product from the Inventory list on my post from October 18th… Plus you will receive a handmade altered item from Joyous Creations. Please leave a comment on this post to enter. The winner will be chosen Thanksgiving Day. Non-bloggers welcome. God Bless.

If you would still like to purchase items from the Inventory list please e-mail me so I can take them off before they end up as a giveaway :o)

Friday for Friends October 12, 2007

Filed under: Friday for Friends — Carolyn @ 11:39 am

My hope is that this will help more than one of you, but I got the idea from Rebecca (The not so desperate housewife) who commented asking how I decide the size of my photos, and if I already know my layout design before I choose sizes. Here is the method to my madness Becca…

I decide on my picture sizing by picking my main “favorite”, a family shot, or the best of the bunch to make it a 8×10 or 5×7, sometimes I pick two.

Then the “others” end up being smaller sizes but usually all something similar like 2×2’s, 4×3’s, or some of both. The smaller ones give me more choices in photos also because they could be pictures that wouldn’t look good huge or “normal’ size (4×6) anyway, like a close-up on my daughter’s head or a blurry smiley one of my son, you get my drift?

These are the steps I follow that work for me…

  1. I pick my photos (usually all digital) unless I know a family member gave me doubles or memorabilia I know would go with them.
  2. I pick 1-3 “favorites” to put them in a folder on my computer marked either 5×7 or 8×10 even though I might choose to make them a 5×5, 4×7 or 7×10.
  3. Then I go through the rest that I chose in step 1 and kinda randomly pick their sizes knowing how much room I should have left on my 12×12 if I already have one 4×7 down. And I will put them in a folder marked 4×6 (so I know what size they will get sent to the printers as) but they will be 2×3’s, 4×4’s and so on.
  4. I send them to my online printer, crop them when they get here.
  5. Then I do a rough layout on two blank white 12×12’s, sometimes I draw a sketch.
  6. I pick my paper, my embellishments and so on, and when I put it my whole layout together my pictures will usually shift a little again to make the colors and shapes on the layout more pleasing to the eye… visual triangles, “color throwing” and such.

There is a pretty good video of a method similar to mine over at paperclipping.com that you could check out if you want…. have a GREAT friday!
