My Walk Monday #8 April 27, 2008

Filed under: My Walk Monday — Carolyn @ 10:33 pm

Man I’m I loving the accountability God has given me through blogging Meme’s!

Just gathering up my Bible and study books every Sunday night to get these posts going is such a wonderful time for me… and I know God is using it because the enemy attacked on Sunday last week!

I am doing better now knowing that God has given me a little insight on the “flaming arrow” that hit me.

I noticed that my enemy is threatened by my growth and he is doing his best to make me feel defeated… he wants to handicap me so I will no longer be that threat!  He wants to stop my growth again.  Let me tell ya - in Jesus’ name - I am not the defeated one you are Satan!!!  A-men ladies?!

I learned a lot in my Beth Moore study on “Ancient Ruins” this week, or generational sins.  It was nice to look back not only to see the good (that I don’t often see) in my mommy, but also to (possibly) find some answers as to why my dad’s family is how they are.  It’s nice to find some positive in the situations I have been through learning that “enslaved parents teach their children how to live in bondage even with the best of intentions to do otherwise.”  Read this story Beth shared, it really hit me hard…

“When I was little, my nurse Dibby’s cousin had a dog, just a mutt,

and the dog was pregnant.  I don’t know how long dogs are pregnant,

but she was due to have her puppies in about a week.

She was out in the yard one day and got in the way of the lawn mower

and her two hind legs got cut off.  They rushed her to the vet and he said,

“I can sew her up, or you can put her to sleep if you want, but the puppies are okay.

She’ll be able to deliver the puppies.”

Dibby’s cousin said, “Keep her alive.”

So the vet sewed up her backside, and over the next week the dog

learned to walk.  She didn’t spend any time worrying, she just learned to walk by

taking two steps in the front and flipping up her backside, and then

taking two steps and flipping up her backside again.  She gave birth to six little puppies,

all in perfect health.  She nursed them and then weaned them.

And when they learned to walk, they all walked like her!”

I am willing to break the chains Satan has placed in the generations of my family and Satan wants to leave them there so he can choke me with them!  God allowed my family to be tempted with these things, and since it is a possibility with Satan, he tries to increase the probability!  He is an opportunist!

Now this promise was really awesome!  In Exodus 20:5 & 6 God shows us that 3-4 generations may suffer from the sins of their fathers, but to those who love Him and keep His commandments He WILL show lovingkindness TO THOUSANDS of their generations!

This is the heaviest thing I learned this week and I feel very strongly about giving Satan NO MORE opportunities.  I no longer want to cooperate with him in my lazy and careless attitude, but I want to deliberately cooperate with God.

“The blood’s already been shed.  Isn’t it worth a little sweat and tears?”

This week’s Bonus Question: What is the very first scripture you ever memorized?  Or the one you first - remember - memorizing? And when was it?

 My Answer: Romans 8:1

  • “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
  • My good friend and Bible study leader shared it with me on the night of a youth home fellowship where I confessed a heavy sin I hated myself for… (Thanks Joshie for sharing this most important scripture with me.)

Link up ladies after you share something on your walk this Monday :o)

Scrappin’ Sunday

Filed under: Family Happenings, Scrappin' Sunday — Carolyn @ 6:54 pm

TA-DA… Yes I got some of my to-dos done from last week - are you proud?

Here are my favorite photos of JJ’s 2nd year…

And here are my favorite’s of B.Boy’s 1st year…

If you want to see the photos chosen for my daughter’s 1st year CLICK HERE, and if you want to see the layouts that became of them CLICK HERE.

And here is my running TO-DO list that I will update through the week until next week!  (Next week will be exciting for Scrappin’ Sunday because it is National Scrapbook Day next weekend!!! - and I am going to my sister’s house for my first overnight crop!!!)

  1. put together my Rusty Pickle make-n-take for National SB Day
  2. finish an engagement invitation for a family member
  3. plan layouts with JJ & B.Boy’s pics and get the photos printed
  4. meet with a new client for her wedding album
  5. plan a display album for a friend
  6. and a simple mother’s day album for my mom

I’ve decided to keep a rolling list from now on of things I would like to get done scrap-wise to keep myself accountable.  And what I mean by rolling list a lot of it will probably ”roll” on for a couple weeks until it gets crossed off :o)

  •  Now onto this week’s Bonus Question: Do you buy patterned paper just because you like it, or because you have something specific in mind?
    • I almost always have something specific in mind!  Like this week I will go out and use my free $20 at my local scrapbook store knowing all of the layouts I have planned for this weekend.  I will need girlie paper, boy paper, and baby paper, I will also have specific colors and patterns in mind knowing the photos.
    • Of coarse there are always those times that I know I will use cute paper like at THIS LINK - pages 13, 26-29, 41, 43 - though I don’t buy those right away unless they stay on my “like” list for a while.
  • And here’s a Bonus Question I missed from week 6: Do you ever find yourself in a position where your paper crafts aren’t fun at the moment, but you feel obligated to finish them?
    • YES!  OH YES - TOTALLY!  This was happening to me just last weekend before my monthly crop.  I was even having the desire to give up completely and donate all my product away!  Sometimes it just feels like a waste of time or money, but I often just take this as a lie from the enemy because I KNOW God uses my scrapbooking to bless others and to grow me, I also get great fellowship when I craft with my Christian friends!  So, yes I press-on and am always blessed in the end :o)

The PMS club is this Thursday’s Thing!

On Thursday’s (monthly) they have an article called I’ve got the Joy written by my new bloggy friend Deborah at A Cup of Joy :o)  I’d like to share something about my Joy in a second, but I would also like to share the award Deborah honored me with!  I love it!  Thank you Deborah!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Now on to that wonderful Joy!

I wanted to share this story with you that I read in my Healed and Set Free Bible study a while back.  Thank you Tammy for sharing this story in your study I have not be able to forget it since I read it…  Here you are ladies…

A man’s daughter had asked the local pastor to come and pray with her father. When the pastor arrived, he found the man lying in bed with his head propped up on two pillows and an empty chair beside his bed. The pastor assumed that the old fellow had been informed of his visit.”I guess you were expecting me,” he said.

“No, who are you?”

“I’m the new associate at your local church,” the pastor replied. “When I saw the empty chair, I figured you knew I was going to show up.”

“Oh yeah, the chair,” said the bedridden man. “Would you mind closing the door?” Puzzled, the pastor shut the door.

“I’ve never told anyone this, not even my daughter,” said the man. “But all of my life I have never known how to pray. At church I used to hear the pastor talk about prayer, but it always went right over my head.”

“I abandoned any attempt at prayer,” the old man continued, “until one day about four years ago my best friend said to me, ‘Joe, prayer is just a simple matter of having a conversation with Jesus. Here’s what I suggest. Sit down on a chair; place an empty chair in front of you, and in faith see Jesus on the chair. It’s not spooky because he promised, ‘I’ll be with you always. ‘ Then just speak to him and listen in the same way you’re doing with me right now.”

“So, I tried it and I’ve liked it so much that I do it a couple of hours every day. I’m careful, though. If my daughter saw me talking to an empty chair, she’d either have a nervous breakdown or send me off to the funny farm.”

The pastor was deeply moved by the story and encouraged the old guy to continue on the journey. Then he prayed with him, and returned to the church.

Two nights later the daughter called to tell the pastor that her daddy had died that afternoon. “Did he seem to die in peace?” he asked.

“Yes, when I left the house around two o’clock, he called me over to his bedside, told me one of his corny jokes, and kissed me on the cheek. When I got back from the store an hour later, I found him dead. But there was something strange, in fact, beyond strange–kinda weird. Apparently, just before Daddy died, he leaned over and rested his head on a chair beside the bed.”

Isn’t that BEAUTIFUL?!  Ever since the night my son ran into the street I have been inviting Jesus to the spot on the couch next to my bed…

I even slept with my Bible that night (which is something I used to do in High School) because the Word is God (John 1:1) and He is my comforter (Jeremiah 8:18) and I desperately needed Him!  And as you know now I feel that He is calling me to that spot for my quiet time with Him (I’ve only made it twice since) but OH THE JOY! - It comes with such peace!  God has been so good to me, calling me to obedience in tiny baby steps like…

  1. having me buy a book that was only $3.50
  2. helping me finish it when it was only 87 pages and  day-to-day/devotion style
  3. Now having me get up early to go to the couch right next to me!

Is He not WONDERFUL!

The first time I got there early in the morning I feel back asleep (but it was so wonderfully peaceful, like I was sleeping in His lap!)… and in my sleeping moments there was this POWERFUL, yet small and quite voice saying “Ephesians two, one through twenty two”.  That has never happened to me, praise God!  When I got up I read it and it was ALL encouraging on Mercy, Great Love, Kindness, Hope!!!  Now that is a reason to be Joyful!!! A-men?

My Walk Monday #7

Filed under: My Walk Monday — Carolyn @ 12:08 am

My Walk MondayWelcome again ladies… I am blessed to have you here again.

I don’t know about you, but I have had an interesting week.  Lately I have been feeling like I got hit by one of those flaming arrows, but so blind-sighted like I don’t know WHERE I got hit!  I’m just trying to pray more and hopefully God will bring me to some kind of understanding of it.

I have been in the word though - Praise God!  I finished reading through James last week and told you I would share everything I learned once I’m done… it’s a lot, but here you go, this is exactly how I write as I read…

  •  chapter 1
    • v. 2, 3, 19 - God wants to teach me to endure by testing my trust in Him.
    • v. 4 - He wants to grow me and make me mature.
    • v. 6-8 - I need to pray for specifics without doubt or not expect God to work at all.
    • v. 12 - God wants to reward me with a crown when I learn to persevere.
    • v. 13-15 - sin starts in my thoughts as temptations and is accomplished when I act.
    • v. 19, 20 - I must be quiet, listen and not get angry.
    • v. 21 - I must put my self aside.
    • I must be humble and receive the word that saves.
    • v. 22-25 - I must do the word, not just listen to it, then I will be blessed.
    • v. 27 - I want to be true and unstained by the world.
  • chapter 2
    • v. 1-12 - don’t show partiality.
    • v. 13 - show more mercy and be less judgmental.
    • v. 22 - God wants met to act on my faith to bring it to perfection.
    • v. 24 - and use my works to justify me. (just-if-i’d never sinned)
  • chapter 3
    • v. 1 - if I want to teach I am asking for a stricter judgement from God.
    • v. 2-6 - I want God to direct my words so then He can also direct my self… I want Him to be my horseman, my pilot, my fire!
    • v. 16 - the disorder and evil in my life is coming from the jealousy and selfish ambition.
    • v. 17 - wisdom from God comes with purity, peace, gentleness, reason, mercy, good fruits, stability, and the ability to follow.
  • chapter 4
    • v. 1 - my selfish pleasures are what cause my battles (both inside & out).
    • v. 2 - I have not because I ask not.
    • v. 3 - or maybe I ask with the wrong motives?
    • v. 4 - am I acting like a friend or enemy of the world?  of God?
    • v. 7 - submit to God - resist the devil and he will flee
    • v. 8 - draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
    • v. 11 - If I speak against my brother I judge him.
    • v. 12 - I am taking a position of God when I judge!
    • v. 13-15 - I shouldn’t be making my own plans but I should be saying, “If the Lord wills”.
  • chapter 5
    • v. 3 - am I storing up treasures on earth?
    • v. 4 - do I owe anyone to anything that would cause them to cry to God against me?
    • v. 7 - a good picture of patience = as the farmer waits for the precious produce.
    • v. 9 - “Do not complain against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the judge is standing right at the door.”
    • v. 11 - blessed are those who endure… the Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
    • v. 12 - to not fall under judgement, let your yes be yes and no be no.
    • v. 13-15 -  suffering -> pray, cheerful -> sing praise, sick -> have the elders pray and anoint you with oil.
    • v. 16 - to be healed -> confess and pray for one another.
    • v. 19-20 - it is good practice to turn sinners from the error of their ways, it will cover their sins and save them from death.

I have also had devotion time in Ephesians 2, Colossians 3, and Genesis 4, with God showing me…

  •  He wants to show me mercy and GREAT love (this was nice because I am still struggling my my disobedience).
  • He wants to show me His kindness.
  • I have hope with Him in this world.
  • I am of His household.  (And so are you my dear Christian sisters)
  • God is renewing me to the true knowledge that Christ is all!
  • He wants me to be compassionate, kind, humble, gentle, patient, tolerant, and forgiving.
  • I want to learn better to work with a sincere heart to God, not as a man pleaser… especially with Tackle it Tuesday.
  • I want to give God my first and my best in devotions to Him, not my felt-overs or just a good try, but my BEST!
  • I need to master the sin of keeping my fatty-laziness to myself :o)

This week’s Bonus Question:  What do you run to instead of God?  How can you tangibly remedy that?

My Answer: I run to my husband - poor thing!!!  God has been showing me to hold my tongue and go to Him in times when I want to go to Joshie.  It been hard and wonderful all at the same time.  I am just thankful God is slowing guiding me out of this one through obedience and quietness.

Scrappin’ Sunday April 20, 2008

Filed under: Scrappin' Sunday — Carolyn @ 12:24 am

Oh dear, here I am again sharing that I (once again) did not get my to-dos done from last week… but I did get one layout done just yesterday because I went to a crop and had some great fellowship!!  (Thank you Joshie for letting me sleep in then kicking me out to crop!  I love you!)

Here it is my dears… TA-DA…

And my TO-DO… lets look through ALL the ones I have not completed and finish them huh?! UPDATED and added to…

  1. put together my Rusty Pickle make-n-take for National SB Day
  2. get orders ready for CTMHRoger’s &  Stampendous
  3. pick photos to print for JJ’s 2 layouts of her second year
  4. and more photos for B.Boy’s 2 layouts of his first year
  5. and (while I’m at it) more photos of GG’s birth
  6. take and purchase professional photos
  7. put a slit in one of my paint cans to make it a “donation” can
  8. finish an engagement invitation for a family member

(I am getting ready to Scrapbook at my sister’s house over night in two weeks :o)  Ps. Give her a visit and a comment - she’s newer to blogging.

Bonus Question: Where is your favorite place to get craft supplies?  That’s kind of a tough one for me… I guess I like to get them from anywhere because if I like something - I like it- period… it does not matter where it’s from.

And here’s a Bonus Question I missed from week 5: Where do you do your crafts?  In my craft room!  On the wonderful table my handsome husband and his daddy made for me.  :o)
